  Initially, communication and process with the host was good. A day before check-in, we noticed the communication pattern changed. The host then cancelled an hour before check-in due to issues found with the apartment. This isn't the big issue. The biggest issue was the lies told to us about the cancellation. The host lied about what they communicated to Airbnb (one of several lies were the host saying they told airbnb that they cancelled the reservation, Airbnb told me the host said that I cancelled the reservation and so I would need to pay a penalty). I eventually got it sorted out but not after having to spend hours relaying information between the host and Airbnb (the host stopped communicating through the Airbnb portal and only communicated through other chat messages). I would advise anyone to only communicate through the Airbnb App.

  مكان جميل و اطلالة رائعة و نظافة المفارش و الاسره جيده، و لكن لا يوجد معطرات للجو في المكان، رائحة المنظفات طاغية في المكان، المضيف كان يسأل اسئلة ليس لها علاقه بالمسكن لم يسبق ان سألني اياها احد، لدرجة انني اتصلت بالدعم الفني لبرنامج Airbnb, ولكن تم حل الموضوع من قبل المضيف وحصلنا على السكن في الوقت المحدد او بعده بقليل.

  السلام عليكم، بخصوص الشكوى المرفوعة، أحب أوضح إني تواصلت مع الرقم المنتهي بـ 3543 عبر الواتساب، وطلبت إني أكون متواجد وقت تسليم الشقة حتى يتم الاطلاع على حالتها بشكل واضح. كما أود الإشارة إلى أني قمت بتسليم الشقة، وبعد مرور 5 أيام من التسليم تم التواصل معي وطلب تعويض، وهذا الأمر غير واضح بالنسبة لي، حيث أنه في حال وجود ملاحظات فعلية كان من المفترض إبلاغي بها وقت التسليم أو مباشرة بعده. وأتمنى منكم التكرم بمراجعة وضع العمالة المسؤولة عن الشقة، حيث واجهت منهم عدم تعاون خلال الفترة الماضية. كما أرجو منكم النظر في الموضوع بإنصاف، حيث أني حريص على إيضاح كامل الحقيقة. شاكر لكم تعاونكم واهتمامكم

  Suffocating AC (not been cleaned for ages) got our family sick. The owner outright denies!

  The location was undeniably good. Each access, amazing view, good sized windows. The kitchen, toilet and bedrooms weren't good too.

  Could be better: Two things; the suffocating AC and the host's behvaior. The Air Conditioning was not just bad, it was beyond terrible. It smelled of suffocation when you entered the apartment. My kids and I got sick because of it. It ruined our trip. It was because the AC filter was not cleaned / serviced for god knows how long. The AC filter looked like a woven rug when the maintenance person took it out for cleaning in front of me. The second thing was the behaviour of the owner. When we eventually got the problem identified by the maintenance person of the building that it was because of the AC filter, the owner outright rejected it (we were communicating via his agent on whatsapp). He claimed that the AC was serviced before my arrival. When I sent the owner the pictures of the thick rug-like dirty AC filter that the maintenance person took out of the AC unit in front of my eyes, he claimed that I have sent him the picture of the cooking range's filter. I told the owner how badly the suffocating AC has impacted my family's health and ruined this trip. I told him that I was extremely unhappy about the situation. He asked me what I want and I told him that I want my money for the first two nights be refunded (because that's when the AC filter got cleaned). I have repeatedly reached out to the owner via resolution of this via his agent but haven't heard back from him. I have a long history of travel and bookings via booking.com and other similar platforms in last 20 years and I have never had an experience as bad as this. It was a pricey apartment and having AC in such bad condition that it smells and suffocates guests to the point that multiple people get sick and then the owner outright denies it and in fact says that I have sent him an incorrect picture, is beyond understanding. It ruined our trip to Riyadh. I would like booking.com to take serious action against this.
